Lebanon, 1982. To keep a promise made to an old friend, Georges, an idealistic theater director, travels to Beirut for a project as utopian as it is risky: to stage the play Antigone on the front line, in order to steal a moment of peace from the raging civil war. The characters will be played by actors from different political and religious camps. Lost in a city and a conflict he knows nothing about, Georges is guided by Marwan.
As fighting resumes, everything is soon called into question, and Georges, who falls in love with Imane, has to face up to the reality of war.
Georges, een politiek geëngageerde toneelregisseur, heeft het activisme opgegeven. Maar wanneer Samuel, zijn beste vriend die aan een ongeneeslijke ziekte lijdt, hem aanspoort om Anouilhs Antigone op te voeren om twee uur vrede te stelen uit de Libanese oorlog, kan Georges niet weigeren. In Beiroet ontdekt George al snel de gespannen sfeer en alle oorlogsconflicten tussen etnische groepen in het land. Het toneelstuk lijkt een sprankje hoop, ook al hangt de wolk van een allesvernietigende oorlog boven hen. Hoe zal de man die alleen maar opstand heeft gekend de realiteit van het conflict onder ogen zien? Zal hij ongedeerd kunnen ontsnappen?
Liban, 1982. Pour respecter la promesse faite à un vieil ami, Georges se rend à Beyrouth pour un projet aussi utopique que risqué : mettre en scène Antigone afin de voler un moment de paix au coeur d’un conflit fratricide. Les personnages seront interprétés par des acteurs venant des différents camps politiques et religieux. Perdu dans une ville et un conflit qu’il ne connaît pas, Georges est guidé par Marwan. Mais la reprise des combats remet bientôt tout en question, et Georges, qui tombe amoureux d’Imane, va devoir faire face à la réalité de la guerre.
